We believe prayer is not just something we do - it is how we stay rooted in God, listen to His voice, and join in with His work in our community and our world.

Why Prayer Matters

  • Prayer connects us to God - We pray because God invites us into relationship with Him. Prayer helps us draw near, listen, and respond to His leading.
  • Prayer transforms us - As we pray, God shapes our hearts, strengthens our faith, and aligns us with His purposes.
  • Prayer changes the world - We believe God hears and responds. Through prayer, we join in His mission to bring hope, healing, and renewal to our community and beyond.

How to Pray

Check out our Faith Resources where you'll find lots of useful guides to prayer and spiritual practices, including links to external providers of the 24-7 Prayer Course, bible reading plans and so much more. Below is a simple guide on how to pray:

1. Come as you are
You don’t need special words. God welcomes honesty more than perfection.

2. Be still
Take a moment to breathe and become aware of God’s presence.

3. Speak to God simply
Thank Him. Ask for help. Pray for others. Share what’s on your heart.

4. Listen
Pause. Notice any thoughts, Scripture, or gentle nudges from the Holy Spirit.

5. Use the Bible
A verse or Psalm can give you words when you don’t have your own.

6. Pray with others
We grow when we pray together - on Sundays, in small groups, or during the week in our Life Groups.

7. Keep it everyday
Short prayers throughout your day matter just as much as long ones.

8. Trust God
He hears. He cares. He is faithful.

When We Pray at EMBC

Prayer is woven throughout the life of our church. There are many moments - formal and informal - where we pause together to seek God, listen to Him, and pray for one another.
  • After our Sunday morning service, members of our prayer ministry team are available at the front of the church. They there to pray with you about anything - big or small - and to stand with you in faith and encouragement.
  • We also pray together during church membership meetings, where we take time to listen to God, pray for our church family, and seek His guidance for the months ahead.
  • On the last Sunday of each month, we gather for our Encounter worship evening in the Village Centre - a quieter, more spacious time of worship and prayer where we wait on God together.
  • During the week, we meet for mid‑week prayer on Wednesdays at 10am in the Prayer Room. This is a simple, welcoming space to pray for our church, our families, our community, and the wider world. Our dedicated prayer room can also be booked through the Village Centre if you’d like a quiet place to pray on your own or with others.
  • Prayer is also a natural part of our Life Groups, where we share needs, pray for one another, and listen to God together.
And beyond all of these organised moments, we pray with each other - in conversations, over coffee, in homes, and throughout the week as needs arise. Wherever you are in your journey, there is a place for you to pray and be prayed for at EMBC.
