The Overseas Mission Team at East Mains is made up of a group of people with a strong desire  for sharing God’s love throughout the world.

We act as a go-between for the leadership, the congregation and the various mission organisations the church supports.

It’s our goal to recognise and confirm God’s call to mission service in those members of the congregation who become aware of such a call. After that, we help by sending members out around the world, alongside our partner organisations. We accept pastoral responsibility for those on mission, and keep folk updated about progress while they are away.

The team recommend to the church (via the leadership) those who should be officially supported by the church using the Missionary Budget Fund.

We currently facilitate partnerships with:

Nairobi Baptist Church
Nairobi Baptist Church (See Kwale Project for more information on our partnership with NBC)Our partnerships are reviewed regularly and ratified by the church at the Annual General Meeting.

Whilst we’re mainly involved in Overseas Mission, we do work closer to home too.

Loaves and Fishes
Each year we arrange for a Harvest collection to be donated to the work of Loaves & Fishes (a social work charity operating primarily in East Kilbride).

Similarly each Christmas the team arranges for the congregation to donate whatever toys they can, to be distributed by Loaves & Fishes to those families in East Kilbride who aren’t able to afford them.

Food Bank
We recently set up a Food Bank in The Village Centre to secure a more regular donation.

Fairtrade
In line with Christian ethics, we also promote the use of Fairtrade products in the church,
and have been responsible for running a Fairtrade stall at different times.

Overall, the team exists to promote interest in and giving to Mission work within the Church. We supply information, arrange meetings, and offer constant encouragement through prayerful and practical support.
