Brownies is for girls aged seven to ten. We meet in The Village Centre hall each Wednesday, between 6:30 and 7:45 pm
Brownies is part of Girlguiding. It’s available to girls from all cultures and faiths.
Through guiding, girls can:
- learn to be themselves,
- have fun,
- build friendships,
- gain valuable life skills,
- learn new hobbies,
- explore other cultures.
Brownies follow a programme called the Brownie Adventure, divided into the three areas of You, Community and World. Brownies make a simple Promise, in tandem with members from all around the world.
Brownie meetings involve games, songs, crafts and other activities. We work towards interest badges and sometimes hold special events and day trips.
2014 is the Big Brownie Centenary Birthday, and to celebrate, we’re completing a series of special challenges, each linked to a milestone year in the history of Brownies.
We hope that for each girl attending Brownies, the result will be a positive difference to their own lives. We hope that their communities will benefit too.
Our unit charges £2 per week. It covers the cost of materials and the annual subscription.
Occasionally, there might be extra charges for special activities.
